How to Fold an Origami Business Card Holder

Origami business card holders are a great choice for anyone interested in practical origami projects. Although a business card holder made from origami paper won't be as sturdy as a purchased business card case, it's very easy to simply whip up a new one whenever it needs to be replaced.

Use origami paper that is between 8 1/4" x 8 1/4" and 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" square to make your origami business cardholder. Alternatively, you could fold the case from a cut sheet of patterned wrapping paper.

If you use a 9" x 9" square sheet of paper, you could use a business card holder to present a gift card if you don't have time to fold an origami gift card envelope. Tie a ribbon around the finished case for a pretty decorative touch.

If you make the business card holder using 12" x 12" square scrapbook paper, you can use it to carry coupons or store rewards cards on a shopping trip.

To begin making your origami business card holder, start with the patterned side of your paper face down and the white or colored side facing up. Fold the paper in half. Crease well, then unfold. Fold the left and right corners in to meet the center crease. Crease well, then unfold. When you're finished with this step, your project should look like the paper in this photo.

Fold the top down so that it slightly overlaps the section you just folded. Tuck the bottom edge into the diagonal flaps. This will keep the origami business card holder closed without needing any tape or glue.

If you'd rather display business cards in an upright holder, simply fold the flap from Step 5 in the opposite direction and make a second crease where the top horizontal edge of the flap from Step 4 meets the paper. The holder will stand upright once the first few business cards are added.

If you don't have any business cards to display, you can tuck a wallet-sized photo into the flaps and push them together tightly to make this project into a simple origami picture frame. Pinch the back layer into a triangle shape so the frame will stand on its own.
