Project Overview
  • Total Time: 1 hr
  • Yield: 1 box
  • Skill Level: Intermediate

This pretty traditional origami star box is a great item to make throughout the year for presenting snacks or for storing trinkets and jewelry. This box looks festive during the holidays, such as during Christmas for displaying nuts or chocolates or at Easter to hold mini-Easter chocolate eggs and placed on the dinner table or given as gifts to small children.

All you need is one piece of square paper to make this box. This origami project would be suitable for beginners who have already learned a few basic origami items like the origami masu box and other simple beginner origami projects where you'll learn to make an origami square base.

What You'll Need

Materials

  • 1 piece 8-inch by 8-inch solid colored paper

Instructions

  1. Make the Square Base

Start off by making a classic origami square base.

    1. Starting with your paper, fold it in half left to right and up to down.
    2. Flip the paper over.
    3. Fold the paper diagonally in half both ways.
    4. Now you can pick the paper up, folding in half and pushing the diagonal folds into the center.
